Action-Packed BMX Bluegrass Nationals Ride into Freedom Hall
BMX riders from across the country ride into Louisville Friday, Jan. 26 – Sunday, Jan 28 for the USA BMX Bluegrass Nationals in Freedom Hall. More than 1,000 amateur BMX riders from 25 states are expected to compete.
Racers from age two to 70 will jump dirt ramps and navigate obstacles in an action-packed sprint to the finish line. Racers compete in qualifying rounds called motos to earn a spot in the main event. Competitors have two chances to qualify for either semi-final or final races. The races take place on a 1,000 foot dirt track that features hills, banked turns, obstacles and jumps.
The Bluegrass Nationals is part of the national racing circuit, which features 30 races across the country. Racers compete for national points throughout the year to earn a spot in the final competition in November.
Racing begins on Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and Sunday at 8 a.m. with the main events starting at approximately 12:00 p.m. The event is free for spectators.
Parking at the Kentucky Exposition Center is $8 per vehicle.
